I’m pretty sure that Donald and Goofy weren’t playable at that stage. I think the player just went into first-person mode (Press Select) and watched them beat up Heartless. Also, ELEVATORS ARE WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS! I gotta remember that one.

I agree, but how many times must it be said that the ban-hammer of lawsuits forbids it? Then again, this “ban-hammer of lawsuits” is pretty much only a monster in NoA’s closet. Either way, it’s not gonna happen. 🙁

The rumor was actually proven true by Sakurai himself. On the Smash Bros. Dojo website, it was quoted that he “wanted Final Smashes from the start, but decided to save it for a later installment”.
