After seven years of waiting, the Penultimate expansion to Destiny’s light and dark saga is finally upon us. Developer Bungie is calling this new expansion “The beginning of the end.” The expansion, titled Lightfall was revealed during Bungie’s showcase event on August 23rd. In addition, more details were revealed regarding the future of Destiny 2, including the next season and new update details. You can check out the Lightfall trailer below.
In Lightfall, Guardians will face off against Calus, the former emperor of the Cabal. Calus returns to the solar system as a Disciple of the Witness, an entity revealed in The Witch Queen expansion. Using the new subclass, called Strand, Guardians will grapple their way through Neptune’s new city, Neomuna. On top of the expansion news, details on the next season were released as well. This new season, titled Season of Plunder, will be themed around Pirates. The nemesis of the Beyond Light expansion, Eramis, has escaped her icy prison and gathered the outlaws of the system. Now Guardians must team up with their own band of outlaws to take on Eramis. Along with the long awaited Arc 3.0, you’ll have updated electrical powers to take on the pirated of the system. Season of Plunder is available now, with the newly remastered King’s Fall raid launching on August 26.
Along with the release of Lightfall, Bungie will be implimenting some long awaited features in Destiny 2 such as in-game LFG and loadout saving. Lightfall is expected to launch on February 28rd, 2023. Are you excited for the next chapter of Destiny? Let us know in the comments below!
