Nintendo Switch Sports Announced at Nintendo Direct

At the Nintendo Direct Stream we got a big surprise in the form of Nintendo Switch Sports. Nintendo has finally announced a successor to the 2006 Wii launch title hit Wii Sports. Like its predecessor, it will feature a variety of sports like bowling, tennis, and chambara; a sword style sport. Also joining the lineup is soccer, badminton and volleyball. Online play will be available for all sports against friends or random opponents online. Like the Original Wii Sports, all sports will use some form of motion controls using the joy-cons.

Nintendo also mentioned an update for the game coming this Summer that will allow you to play soccer with a leg-strap accessory that allows for intuitive kicking motions. It’s great to see how Nintendo still makes fun, fresh use of motion controls even after the era of the Wii. Nintendo has also announced an online play-test for the game taking place from February 18th to the 20th. Nintendo Switch Sports will be available on April 29th, 2022. Were you surprised that Wii Sports received a sequel? Let us know in the comments below!
