Sora is the Final Character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
After nearly three years and 11 DLC fighters, the final fighter has been announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. During a “Mr. Sakurai Presents” live presentation, the final fighter was revealed. After tons of speculation, it’s none other than Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series! After a lot of convincing, Disney gave permission to let the character enter the fight. Sora will join on October 18th, 2021! You can see his announcement trailer below.
Did you happen to guess correctly on who it was? Either way, Sora is your final character for the game, marking the 82nd fighter for the crossover fighter. 89 fighters if you count certain characters among the roster. Sora appears with five appearances, including his looks for the original Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, and Kingdom Hearts III. He also has his Timeless River appearance from Kingdom Hearts II, his Pride and Wisdom forms, and his Ultimate form from Kingdom Hearts III. Haley Joel Osment’s voice is also used for the character’s appearance.
Sora will also have his own stage with a combination of Hallow Bastion and Dive to the Heart. The stage is simple, moving from the iconic Hallow Bastion World before transitioning to Dive to the Heart in the final moments. When the level becomes Dive to the Heart, artwork of several characters can appear randomly. This includes Sora himself, Riku, Roxas, Xion, Ventus, Aqua, and Terra. Sora will also come with 9 classic tracks from Kingdom Hearts, as well as a bonus track for those with Switch save data for Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. All the tracks are the original arrangements, with only Sora’s victory screen bringing a new arrangement to the game.
Along with Sora, the final Mii Fighter costumes have also been revealed. Interesting enough, only three costumes are being added on October 18th, 2021. These costumes include Splatoon’s Octoling and Judd hats, as well as a Mii costume for Doom’s Doom Slayer. A lot of rumors said Doomguy would be a fighter in the game after various leaks, so it’s cool to see the FPS icon appear in some capacity.
