TGS 2021 | Check out the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Panel
During Tokyo Game Show 2021, Square Enix and Koei Tecmo hosted a panel about their upcoming Final Fantasy spin-off, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. During the panel, the team addressed many of the improvements since the first demo released during E3 2021. They also discuss how the feedback helped to guide them with key development decisions. You can check out the full panel in the video below (at the 14:53 mark).
The panel includes Game Directors Daisuke Inoue, Hiroya Usada, and Nobumichi Kumabe as well as Creative Producer Tetsuya Nomura. After thanking the players for support, they dive right into the panel and outline a lot of the updates. These changes include improved visuals, dynamic lighting, and a rebalancing of the combat. The game also gets improvements in the frame rate and now offers 4K rendering. All of these features can currently by checked out in the newly released Trial Version 2. They also discuss adjusting the difficulty between ‘Story,’ ‘Action,’, and ‘Hard’ for a better experience for players of any level.
One of the biggest improvements were the changes to the AI, a feature we addressed when we played the previous trial. Not only do they have a bunch of general improvements, but players can now customize the jobs, equipment and abilities for Jack’s allies. They can also utilize the ‘Resonance’ feature to give allies a temporary boost in battle. This is a welcome change, as they felt mostly like human shields before.
Aside from showing off the multiplayer, the Stranger of Paradise panel also takes the opportunity to show off the demo. The demo is available now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, and will be available until October 11th. Those that complete the new trial version can participate in a survey to give additional feedback to the developers.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin releases on March 18th, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. If you happen to have a next-gen console, go ahead and give the new trial version a shot. Are you looking forward to this new spin-off? Let us know in the comments below!
