Neil Druckmann and HBO Reveals First Official Image of The Last of Us Series

To celebrate The Last of Us Day, series director and writer Neil Druckmann, along with HBO, have dropped a nice tidbit on social media today. While HBO’s The Last of Us series won’t air until 2022, we got our first screenshot of the show today. The image, which was shared on Twitter and Instagram, shows stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey from behind as they look towards the grassy plains of a crashed plane site. You can see the shot below.

Druckmann was very enthusiastic about the progress of the show, even commenting about the series stars. “When I first saw them on set in full costume, I was like: “Hooooooly shit! It’s Joel & Ellie!'” Interesting enough, the image shows an uncommon aspect ratio. While the Snyder Cut of Justice League uses 4:3, and IMAX uses 1.91:1, The Last of Us seems to use its own ratio. Of course, it’s entirely possible that this is simply just an image and the show will use a standard aspect ratio. We don’t mind speculating, especially since it’ll probably be a bit before we see more.

What do you think of the image? We’ve already seen a behind the scenes shot showing Pascal’s Joel and Diego Luna’s Tommy, though this is the first true glimpse we’ve seen of the show. Are you excited to see the series? Let us know in the comments below!
