Doki Doki Literature Club Plus Releases Digitally on June 30th
During E3 2021, it was announced that Doki Doki Literature Club would be getting an enhanced release. Doki Doki Literature Club Plus not only adds additional content, but it also makes the game available on consoles for the first time. The romantic yet terrifying visual novel has quite the following, so it’s great to see it get a bigger audience. Those that have been waiting will be happy to know that the game will release digitally on June 30th, 2021. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. You can check out the announcement trailer below!
There are still many mysteries regarding the console versions. Those that have played the original will likely know the biggest questions, though we won’t spoil them here. The new version will include six new side stories, a new art gallery full of unlockable artwork,13 all new songs from Nikki Kaelar, Jason Hayes and Azuria Sky, and a visual upgrade with the artwork in full 1080p. This additional content will add hours to the experience and will likely be great for fans new and old.
Of course, another snippet of news is the physical release. Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch with a physical version this Summer. The physical release will include a DDLC member card, a soundtrack download (on a floppy disk shaped card), 17 vinyl stickers, and an exclusive poem written by Monika. Nintendo Switch owners will also get an exclusive inner coversheet. You can pre-order the game now from various retailers, including Target (Switch, PS4, PS5), Best Buy, and GameStop. Fans can expect the physical versions on August 20th, 2021. Wal-Mart is expected to have pre-orders available soon as well.
