E3 2021 | Guardians of the Galaxy Game Coming From Eidos Montréal
In a surprise announcement, Square Enix and Eidos Montréal have revealed a new Guardians of the Galaxy game. Seemingly taking heavy inspiration from the comics and the film, the game stars our favorite band of misfits, coming October 26th, 2021. This isn’t the first or even second time the Guardians got the spotlight in a game, but this definitely seems like their first AAA experience. You can check out the reveal trailer below!
The characters seem to use a mix of the film and comic book designs for the characters. Music also seems to be a major influence for the game, much like the film, featuring several licensed tracks. Like the Telltale game, players will be able to make crucial decisions to either keep their team together, or divide them. Unlike the Telltale game, the game takes a bigger action route in the gameplay department, offering a third-person team experience. Players will play as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, as they utilize skills from their AI controlled teammates. You can check out the gameplay demo below.
As a single player game, the team was focusing on a good story with the characters at the core. Star-Lord, Rocket, Gamora, Drax, and Groot are all in full force for the game. The game will also feature several familiar and new Marvel faces, like Mantis, Cosmo the Spacedog, and more. You can check out more details in the developer deep dive of the game below.
Guardians of the Galaxy will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. A cloud version will also be coming to Nintendo Switch on the same day. Pre-orders will earn the Throwback Guardians costume pack, and the Cosmic Deluxe Edition will offer a digital soundtrack, artbook, steelbook case, and extra Star-Lord skins.
