Elden Ring Trailer and Release Date Revealed
At the end of the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live event, we finally got the gameplay trailer reveal for Elden Ring, the long-awaited and highly anticipated action RPG made in collaboration between FromSoftware and writer George R.R. Martin. Additionally, the trailer also revealed the game’s highly anticipated release date of January 21, 2022. It will release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, and Xbox One.
The trailer shows off both the medieval influences of George R.R. Martin and the many influences from FromSoftware’s stellar series Dark Souls. The trailer shows a surprising amount of gameplay which includes PvE, magic, swordplay, summonable allies, giant mythical monsters, horseback riding, and more.
Bandai Namco officially revealed Elden Ring in June 2019 at E3. It was described as FromSoftware’s “largest game to-date,” and is set in a “sprawling realm steeped in a rich and bloody history.”
FromSoftware approached Martin to write the “overarching mythos for the game world itself.” “This mythos proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well,” game director Hidetaka Miyazaki wrote in a Q&A. “It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff.” Since its debut, we didn’t hear much of Elden Ring and fans have been craving more information ever since.
Elden Ring is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 21, 2022. What did you think of the Elden Ring trailer? Let us know in the comments below!
