The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Goes West This July

In a surprise announcement today, Capcom and Shu Takumi revealed that The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles would be coming to western audiences for the first time. Launching July 27th, 2021, this game will collect both The Great Ace Attorney games, which were both previously Japan-only 3DS games. These games are prequels to the Ace Attorney series, taking place roughly a century before the main games. Now, the games are coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. You can check out the announcement video below, including a special message from the series creator himself, Shu Takumi.

The games take place in the late 19th century, during Japan’s Meiji Period and England’s Victorian era. Our protagonist is an ancestor to Phoenix Wright named Ryunosuke Naruhodo, a young defense attorney from Japan. In traditional Ace Attorney fashion, players will investigate and uncover truth in witness testimonies to clear the names of their clients. You’ll meet colorful characters across both games, including the ace detective Herlock Sholmes. The game will feature both English and Japanese voices and a brand new localization.

Gather evidence, question key witnesses, and even engage with Herlock Sholmes in the “Dance of Deduction” feature to uncover mistakes in the detective’s logic. Courtrooms will also feature “Summation Examinations” to point out juror discrepancies to get closer to a “not guilty” verdict. You can check out the brand new screenshots below.

The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures and The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve both feature five cases each. In addition, this release will include eight mini-episodes and three alternate costumes. There will even be an added art gallert and auditorium, featuring artwork, music and voice recordings from the game. Both games will come together in this collection for MSRP of $39.99 on July 27th, 2021. A digital bundle including Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy will also be available for an MSRP of $59.99.
