Guardian Games Returns to Destiny 2 Next Week

After a year long wait, the Guardian Games finally returns to Destiny 2. Last year, Season of the Worthy introduced the Guardian Games to Destiny 2, a three week long event in which Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans compete against each other in order to determine the best class. Titans won by a landslide, taking the win almost everyday of the competition, earning themselves a statue that’s stood in the tower all year. But now, it’s time Guardian Games 2021. You can check out the trailer for the games below.

With the new year comes new rewards to earn. Every class has a new Guardian Games themed armor set to earn. As with past events, you should expect there to be plenty of new cosmetics, with new ghost shells, ornaments and emotes. There’s a good chance the cosmetics from the previous games will be available as well. For those of you who weren’t able to earn the Heir Apparent last time, you’ll have another chance. The exotic heavy machine returns again this year, along with the catalyst. Finally, there’s a chance to earn physical rewards as well. The end of the trailer shows off a sweet customized jacket and gold medals for your class, erasable through in game challenges.

The format seems to be similar to last years Guardian Games, with the addition of a weekly ceremony to determine that weeks winner. You can gain points for your class by completing challenges and earning triumphs. Whether there are more ways to earn medals for your class has yet to be seen. However, knowing Bungie, there will likely be changes in order to improve upon last years Guardian Games.

Guardian Games will be free to all players regardless of whether or not you’ve purchased the current season. The event will be active from April 20th to May 9th, 2021. There will be a closing ceremony from May 7th-9th to announce the winning class, complete with fireworks and a trophy to display for the next year. Let’s hope Hunters and Warlocks put up a fighting chance this year. What class do you main? Are you looking forward to the Guardian Games? Let us know in the comments below!
