GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon Announced for Early Access in May, Fully Releasing Next Year
A surprise sequel to GetsuFumaDen was announced during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase. With the original game releasing only in Japan in 1987, Konami is giving us a sequel with GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon. The announcement trailer gives us a taste of what’s to come with this side-scrolling action game. With absolutely gorgeous backdrops accompanied by fantastically detailed bosses, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon resembles the ancient Japanese art form, Ukiyo-e. Check out the announcement trailer below.
The game will feature ten stages using the Ukiyo-e style as players descend into the Underworld. Using a variety of weapons, players will have to master their attacks to unleash devastating abilities. The game will feature strategic combat that relies on spacing and timing to succeed. Featuring intimidating bosses, the game seeks to pose a true challenge for players.
Konami promises GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon will have both roguelike and Metroidvania aspects in their game. Fans will be able to check out the game on Steam Early Access on May 13th, 2021. Konami plans to have a full launch sometime in 2022. Those who play on Steam Early Access will also be given access to the original GetsuFumaDen. The Nintendo Switch version will also release sometime next year.
