Fez Gets A Surprise Release On Switch Today

Sneaking in at the end of the Nintendo Indie World showcase today, the game Fez is now available for Switch. Originally released in 2013, Fez offers a unique perspective and approach to its puzzle-platforming gameplay. The unique aspect is that the player can rotate their field of view four times within a two dimensional plane. Think of looking at the outside of a box from all four sides. For a visual understanding, check out the trailer below.

Although Fez was a big hit at launch, it was a difficult game to develop, which was showcased in the superb documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

Whether you’ve never played Fez, or (like me) you’d like to give another shot at completing the game, now’s a great time to play it. As a further incentive, the Nintendo eShop is currently offering a 10% discount at launch, bringing it down to $13.49. What do you think about Polytron’s indie hit coming to Switch today?
