PAC-MAN 99 Releases for Nintendo Switch Online Members Tomorrow
We may have lost Super Mario Bros. 35, but Nintendo and Bandai Namco are bringing us something new in its place. Announced in a late afternoon tweet, a new battle royale is about to emerge with PAC-MAN 99. Much like Tetris 99, PAC-MAN 99 will be a free-to-play title for Nintendo Switch Online members. Players will survive in the classic PAC-MAN maze as they avoid ghosts and eat power pellets to turn the tables. Of course, now players will be up against 98 other players. Check out the announcement trailer below!
PAC-MAN 99 will offer a few extra twists to the classic formula. Eating ghosts will send a “Jammer PAC-MAN” to other players, which will slow down opponents should they touch him. Players will also want to eat sleeping ghosts, which creates a ghost chain. When eaten, this will send tons of Jammer PAC-MAN units to your opponents, giving you an advantage. Players can also utilize special power-ups that can do things like boost movement speed. Like Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35, players can also prioritize their targets. For those looking for offline challenges, the game will also offer paid content like CPU Battle, Score Attack, and even themes inspired by other classic Bandai Namco games.
PAC-MAN 99 will go live at 6:00PM PST on April 7th, 2021 (tomorrow). Are you looking forward to checking out this new battle royale? Let us know in the comments below!
