Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gets a Free Spring Update This Week

Nintendo has announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting a new free spring update on March 18th to celebrate the first anniversary of the game. Hot on the trail of the recent update adding Festivale and the Mario items, the game is getting even more content soon. The new update will include a free 1st anniversary cake delivered to your mailbox, new Custom Designer Pro App features, access to the Custom Design Portal on your NookPhone, new seasonal items, and best of all, the Sanrio promotion items. Ever since it was shown off last month, Animal Crossing fans have been clamoring for the new Sanrio items. Now they’ll be able to obtain the new items with the use of amiibo cards, releasing exclusively at Target. You can watch the video showing them off and see them in the gallery below.

As mentioned earlier, the update will include new features for the Customer Designer Pro App. Not only will players have 50 more slots for normal and pro custom designs, but they’ll even be able to customize more items. This includes small flags, uchiwa fans, photo booths, and umbrellas. You’ll also no longer need to visit the Able Sisters to access the Custom Design Portal. The feature will now be accessible on your NookPhone, making it much more convenient to share and download designs during late hours. The game will also be adding new items for April Fool’s Day and Prom season. This includes whoopee cushions, prom themed fashion, and even prom walls and floors.

Animal Crossing fans should also remember other special events coming up. This includes a special collaboration with Build-A-Bear and the upcoming Island Tour Creator. The Island Tour Creator launches on March 23rd and allows fans to create posters and trailers for their own island. What do you think?
