Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is Coming to PS5

During today’s PlayStation State of Play presentation, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to PlayStation 5, but with a twist. Now as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the game will not only receive enhancements from the new hardware, but new content as well. This includes a new photo mode (thank you!), as well as a new episode featuring Yuffie. The materia thief didn’t previously appear in the original game, so we’re interested to see where the story goes here. You can check out the annoncement trailer below.

Yuffie will be joined by a new character named Sonon, acting as an ally for the new episode. The PlayStation 5 version will also give upgrades to frame rates, textures, lighting, load times and more. Final Fantasy VII Remake was already a beautiful game on the PlayStation 4, so the PlayStation 5 version will likely impress many. This version will also make use of the DualSense haptic feedback. There will also be a new Normal (Classic) mode, and best of all, you can carry your save data from the PS4 version to the PS5 version in a free upgrade. There is a small catch though. While the upgrade is free, the Yuffie episode is still a separate purchase. You can take a look for yourself with the PS5 features video below.

Perhaps one of the most interesting elements of this announcement is the revelation of Deepground’s involvement. At the end of the announcement trailer, Weiss, one of the antagonists of Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, is shown. It’s unknown how involved Deepground will be in the new story, but seeing their presence means that Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to dig deep in the overall lore. You can check out some of the screenshots below.

The best news of all in this announcement? Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is releasing on June 10th, 2021. In just a few short months, we’ll be able to see the next step in this unfolding story. It may not be a “part two”, but it’s still something that fans can look forward to. As of now, it’s exclusive to PlayStation, so it’s unknown if an Xbox or PC version are on the horizon. Either way, we’ll surely see more news soon. Are you looking forward to the PlayStation 5 version? Let us know in the comments below! Looking for more Final Fantasy VII news?
