Splatoon 3 Announced for Switch in 2022
During the Nintendo Direct today, the final reveal of the presentation gave Splatoon fans a big announcement. That’s right, Splatoon 3 has been announced for Nintendo Switch. Coming in 2022, the game takes players to new territory for Inklings and Octolings. Check out the announcement trailer below.
Not only will Splatoon 3 take players to new areas, but they’ll also have a variety of new features. New hairstyles (tentacle styles), a bow weapon, and even a new ally, a Salmonid called Smallfry will be featured in the upcoming sequel. No longer in Inkopolis, players will find themselves in the “city of chaos,” Splatsville. Despite its rundown appearance, it’s heavily populated and has developed very rapidly since the final Splatfest. It’s part of the Splatlands, an intense desert-like area with a whole different look. Of course, Turf Wars are still popular, so fans will get to enjoy the new environments in new ways.
Players will now start matches by flying into the battlefield from a spawn drone. Now with the ability to choose your landing spot, this will surely change up the game. New movement options will also be available, including the “squid roll” and the “squid surge.” Classic weapons and special weapons will return as well, though the trailer does show off one new special weapon, a crab-like mech. You can check out some of these new features in the screenshots below.
Splatoon 3 is still a ways away in 2022, but we look forward to seeing more news. What about you? Are you excited to see more of the game? Let us know in the comments below!
