Publisher Playstack announced this morning that the physical release of Mortal Shell is being delayed. Originally scheduled for a simultaneous global release on October 2nd, it will now release in the US on November 3rd. As for Europe, it will release at the end of October. This is due to challenges in the current global distribution environment beyond the team’s control.
Here’s a direct quote on the situation from Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott:
“We sincerely apologise to our fans all over the world who have been eagerly waiting for the physical release. Our number one priority is to get Mortal Shell in your hands as soon as possible, therefore we have decided to release each edition of the game the very moment it becomes available. That in turn means a slightly scattered release.”
While the delay of Mortal Shell is a blow to collectors and those preferring the physical format, thankfully the delay isn’t extremely long. When it does arrive, it will include an exclusive poster and artbook featuring previously unreleased concept images and character art. Reasonably priced at $29.99, this could be a good holiday present for the Souls fan in your life.
