Developer Toys for Bob recently revealed more information and gameplay footage on its latest title Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time at Gamescom Opening Night Live event. The first thing introduced during the event are Flashback Levels, which are new puzzle rooms that take players to the early 90s when Crash and Coco were still under Neo Cortex’s control. The Flashback levels are designed to challenge players’ puzzle-solving and technical performing abilities.
However, these levels aren’t part of the main game, and players will need to find Flashback Tapes randomly located in levels and acquire them without dying. As a reminder, the game takes place after the events of Crash Bandicoot: Warped and features all-new gameplay mechanics, costumes, and more.
An overview of Flasback levels, via Activision can be seen below:
“Flashback” levels will give players the ability to rewind time back to the 90s—the greatest era ever!
The Flashback levels are designed to challenge players’ puzzle solving and technical performing abilities. They also give fans even more ways to play. Through the collection of Flashback Tapes, players discover Crash and Coco’s origin story and experience Bandicoot training in Neo Cortex’s Test Chambers—but the task won’t be easy.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is slated to release on 2nd October for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
