After the PlayStation 5 showcase, we finally got a glimpse at the design of the console. Like the DualSense controller, the hardware is two-toned with blue lights to accent it. It sort of looks like a large wireless router, which fans have taken to social media to comment on.
In an interesting move, it looks like the PlayStation 5 will launch with two options. One of these options will retain a disc tray, while the other option will be all digital. The designs are similar, though the option with the disc tray does have a bit more thickness where the disc goes.
Sony also took the opportunity to show some of the accessories being made for the PlayStation 5. These accessories are pretty similar to the ones that are available for the PlayStation 4 already. They showed off a new headset, a media remote, a DualSense charging dock, and a new PS5 camera. All of these accessories share the same white/black color scheme, though altrnate colors will likely happen in the future.
Surprisingly, despite getting all these new details, we’re still left in the dark with two things: the price and the release date. We at least know the release window will be later this year, but we still don’t have any pricing details. We’ll be sure to report on them as soon as they are announced. For now, what do you think? Do you like the design? Are you looking forward to Sony’s next-gen console? Feel free to check out the entire presentation below (starts at 59:13).
