Epic Games Store is crushing it lately with their Free Games

Over the last few weeks, the Epic Games Store has really stepped up their “Free Games” service. For those unaware, these games can be downloaded for free, but only during the designated one week time frame. They typically offer a game or two every week, and let users know what the future free game(s) will be as well.

However, two weeks ago, their store page showed that a “Mystery Game” would be dropping on 5/14/2020. That game ended up being Grand Theft Auto V, causing so much traffic on the site that it crashed. And on that same day, it showed another “Mystery Game” for 5/21/2020. That game ended up being Civilization VI, another popular and critically acclaimed hit. And keeping in line with their current model, next week shows another “Mystery Game”. The online rumor mill believes that the next two games will be Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and ARK: Survival Evolved, but that is not confirmed at this point in time.
