A New Update is Heading to Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Just shortly after we published our review of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo has just announced a new update is on the way for the game. We previously speculated on potential DLC and updates for Animal Crossing, and it looks like Nintendo so far is taking the free route. This is great for fans looking for more value in their game, and it’s a way to keep time travelers on their toes. This update will bring familiar and new experiences to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so check out what’s coming.
First of all, the sloth Leif is coming to islands to sell flowers. Introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Leif will open up Leif’s Garden Shop to sell shrubs and seeds to island dwellers. This will coincide with a new Nature Day event, starting on April 23rd. Going until May 4th, this event will grant new Nook Miles challenges to those that go around planting flowers and trees.
Another part of the free update will include Crazy Redd, the fox that sells art pieces to wary buyers. Just like in previous games, Redd will have genuine items as well as counterfeit ones, so it will be up to the player to figure out whether he’s selling the real deal. He’ll be traveling by boat this time, so be sure to keep an eye out for him. If you purchase genuine art from him, you can have it put on display in your museum. This means a new wing will open up in the museum, putting an art exhibit to explore.
Speaking of museums, International Museum Day will also be coming with these updates. Between May 18th and May 31st, players can take on a special Stamp Rally. With a special stamp card, players will check out fish, bug and fossil exhibits to complete challenges. Doing so will earn an in-game reward for all the hard work. This will come after the May Day Tour, celebrating the first week of May with a special May Day Ticket. This will take players to a unique island that will supposedly have a special visitor. Fans of the series may recognize Rover on the island, as Rover is one of the first faces you see in the older games.
Finally, during the month of June, it’ll be Wedding Season. From June 1st to June 30th, players can visit Harv’s island to meet Reese and Cyrus, the alpaca married couple. They can take wedding themed anniversary photos and earn special items through doing so as well. You can see a video of all the features below. The update will be available to download on April 23rd, so be sure to check it out then.
