Nioh Celebrates 3 Million Units Sold for 3rd Anniversary
Today, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have announced a new milestone for their action title Nioh. While celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the game, released on February 7th, 2017, the game has now exceeded 3 million units sold in physical shipments and digital sales worldwide. For a newer IP, this is quite the accomplishment, especially with so much fierce competition.
The action title is often compared to games like Dark Souls and even the more recent Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game originally launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, releasing on PC a few months later. The game received high praise when it was originally released. Now we’re close to the release of the sequel (or prequel rather). While we didn’t review the original Nioh, our writer Kieran definitely enjoyed his time with it. We will be reviewing Nioh 2, and we have high expectations after the first bout. Nioh 2 releases worldwide on March 13th, coming exclusively to PlayStation 4.
