How to get Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee in Pokémon Sword & Shield
The new Pokémon games have a fun little gift for those that played the Pokémon: Let’s Go! titles. In Pokémon Sword & Shield, there are two NPCs that players can find to obtain special Pokémon from. Those special Pokémon are the main creatures from the Let’s Go! games, Pikachu and Eevee. Not only can you obtain a free Pokémon using your Let’s Go! save file, but these Pokémon also have special Gigantamax forms. Like the Gigantamax Meowth, they’ll have unique appearances and special attacks. Read below to find out how to obtain them.
First of all, players must have save data from either Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! on their Switch. As long as you have that, then you’ll be able to obtain your Pikachu or Eevee, or both. Players will be able to obtain them pretty early on.
Shortly after obtaining your partner Pokémon, players will have to go meet Professor Magnolia. After a bit of story exposition, they’ll receive a Dynamax Band. Eventually, the player and their friend Hop will have to go to Wedgehurst Station to take the train. After the train arrives at the Wild Area Station, players will have a short cutscene. This is where we need to be.
If you look to the left of the station interior, you’ll see two young NPCs. One will have blond hair and one will have brown hair. You probably see where we’re going with this. These NPCs are looking for players with a “Let’s Go Experience”, AKA players with sava data from the previous games.
To obtain your special Gigantamax Pikachu, you’ll speak to the blond girl. Just talk to her and she’ll automatically notice your Let’s Go, Pikachu! save data and gift you a Pikachu. Not only does this Pikachu have increased mass, but it also seems to have additional girth. The tail also grows longer and glows a lightning bolt yellow.
If you have save data for Let’s Go, Eevee! instead, you’ll want to speak with the brown haired boy. He’ll sense your save data and instantly award you with your Gigantamax Eevee. This Eevee seems to be extra fluffy, with an extra thick main and more tufts of hair.
That’s it! It’s as simple as that. Players can obtain these Pokémon early enough to use them right away in the Gym Challenge of the game. So far, Meowth, Pikachu and Eevee are the only gift Pokémon in the game. We’ll be sure to see more as the game continues to gain support. Look forward to our review when we finish the game!
