Control Collectibles Guide

At last, Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games’ Control is here. We gave the game an 8 out of 10, enjoying the puzzling world it created. The newest game from the makers of Alan Wake and Max Payne creates quite the maze for players. Given that it can be easy to get lost, we thought we would make this handy Control collectibles guide to help you on your path. Without spoiling much, this will be a list of all collectibles in the game. Collectibles will be separated by categories and will be in order of appearance in each category.

Hiss Research will not be included, as they are automatically obtained through defeating them for the first time. Using this guide, you’ll be able to earn the Strange Collection, Record Keeper, and Bureau Archivist achievements with ease. Bureau Archivist only needs 120 collectibles, and there are over 250 in the game, so the goal is pretty modest. This guide is a work in progress, but we have enough of them mentioned here to earn the achievement/trophy. If you prefer a picture guide in order of us finding them, Ctrl+F “Picture Guide”. With that, here is your Control collectibles guide.

Research and Records:

  • Bureau Expenditures: This report is found early on in the game. After moving through the metal detector in the lobby, go up the stairs and on your left will be a door. Enter this room, and the report will be on the table.
  • Director Trench Photograph: Obtained automatically through story.
  • Urban Legends: Found in the room to the right upon entering the Central Executive area for the first time. This will be on a filing cabinet in the dark to the left as you enter the room.

  • Parautility: This file will be found in a locked office in the Central Executive area. You won’t be able to access it until after obtaining Level 1 clearance, which after obtaining the Hotline, it’s the perfect opportunity to visit. It will be inside the second floor office all the way toward the East side.
  • Initial Impressions: This is found in the Board Room after obtaining the Hotline. You’ll make your way back to this room as part of a mission, so it’s easy to spot. It’s right on the table upon entering.
  • Home Safe Tests: This will be found in the NSC Energy Converters area. Upon entering the main room, move to the left and up some stairs to reach a second level where there are a bunch of desks. All the way toward the end, this file will be underneath a clock.
  • Threshold Utility: This will be found in the Central Research Sector on the bottom floor. Going past the bathroom area to the West, it will be next to some boxes.

This was the order we found our collectibles in. The order can be changed for many of these, but this was a path that was pretty convenient for us. We didn’t include Hotline or other story related collectibles here since they are obtained automatically. We are still updating this guide, so please be aware that this guide is not yet finished. If you have any feedback or tips on how we can make this guide better, please feel free to drop a comment below!
