Langrisser I & II Announced for 2020 by NIS America!
Today, NIS America announced that they are localizing updated versions of Langrisser, aka Warsong, and Langrisser II in the West next year. The Langrisser series has rarely seen releases in the west, with only the 1991 original on the Sega Genesis and Langrisser Re:Incarnation Tensei for the 3DS in 2016. Not only are both games being visually updated, but the second game is being localized for the first time. The first game will also include an updated translation. Both games will have refined controls, smoother gameplay, and Japanese voice acting.
Players will be able to enjoy both games using the new visual style and updated soundtrack. For fans of the originals, they’ll also be able to switch to retro art and the classic soundtrack. The game was an early rival to the Fire Emblem series back in the 90’s, and now a new generation can experience them. Like Fire Emblem, the Langrisser series features strategy RPG gameplay where permadeath can happen. The big difference is that there are generic troops that can be recruited to strengthen a hero.
The updated games will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC early next year. A limited edition will be available at the NIS America store site. Feel free to check out screenshots below and let us know if you’re looking forward to the release.
