Travis Strikes Again DLC Adds Secret Update to Original Killer Marathon

(UPDATE: As mentioned in the comments below, supposedly the Killer Marathon invisible path was there in the original release. The update simply added Azteca Stones to highlight the hidden path. We’re still curious about this mysterious area and if we hear anything more, we’ll update this article.)

Those that recently installed the newest DLC for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes may have missed a small update. With the Bubblegum Fatale update comes the real Killer Marathon Death Drive game. While it’s a challenging and notable addition to the game, the developer slipped a small change into the original Killer Marathon in the game.

For those that visit the fake Killer Marathon, a hidden path becomes more noticeable. Starting the level again, you’ll immediately notice an Azteca Stone in front of you. Moving forward toward the Ramen shop, there will be another change. There’s a chair that is slightly crooked and an Azteca Stone sitting slightly on top of the wall. You can collect it just by walking up, but jumping up over the wall, you’ll be able to follow an invisible path to a hidden area. The hidden path was available before, but there was nothing to mark it until now.

Upon reaching this area, you’ll receive a fax from K (as well as another Azteca Stone). Moving over to the mass of land, there is a platform you can jump to full of tables and chairs. When you jump to it, you’ll immediately receive another fax from K. So far, that seems to be all there is, though it’s very possible that there are other hidden secrets to be found.

Upon returning to the trailer, there will be two new fax messages waiting for you. The first one discusses concepts of AI and how Travis managed to defy expectations with clearing all six Death Balls. The second one shows a blueprint of a machine that will be familiar to those that finished the game. Travis Strikes Again is an interesting game, and we definitely enjoyed our time with it in our review. If you’re having trouble finding Jeane in the game, we have a nifty guide to help.

It’s actually not a new path, it was there before too, just without the Azteca stones to indicate it.

Really? I didn’t even notice the crooked chair when I played originally and would’ve never made the attempt since it seemed like a joke. Do you happen to know anymore about this area?

Killer Marathon didn’t have a magazine with cheats like the other games, which is how you usually get the extra faxes, so there were two missing. Suda51 put them in that hidden area to see whether anyone would find them, but no one did, so he hinted at the location in the latest TSA stream before adding the Azteca stones in the DLC update.

I don’t think I was the first to find it, but I did find it before the DLC hit: https://twitter.com/rikkuni/status/1118337281750753280

The area itself probably doesn’t mean anything? That really is how things look in Unreal during development.

Interesting, I missed that stream so I was unaware. As for the area itself, I know it’s how it looks in Unreal, I was just curious if there were other secrets hidden, which being a game like this, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Yeah that’s true, I wouldn’t be surprised either. I only found Badman inside the closet in Golden Dragon GP well into my fourth playthrough…

    Anyway, glad I could help!
