Pokémon Sword and Shield Announced During Nintendo Direct
During the Pokémon Direct this morning, Nintendo took the opportunity to officially reveal the upcoming Pokémon titles for the Nintendo Switch. Fans in the States that woke up bright and early were treated to the new announcement. Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year.
After the success of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, Nintendo made sure to strike the iron while it’s hot. We all knew it was coming, since Nintendo made sure to announce that the new games were coming after the official announcement of the Let’s Go games last year.
The new games take trainers to the brand new Galar region and of course bring with it new Pokémon. So far, only the starter Pokémon have been revealed. Grookey is a grass type chimp, Scorbunny is a fire type rabbit, and Sobble is a water type lizard. What these new Pokémon will evolve into, only time will tell.
Unlike Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, it looks like gyms are making their return. The game looks a lot more detailed than the Let’s Go games and even brings back random battles. Another interesting feature shown was what looks to be a sports stadium of some type. It’s not yet known what will take place there, but we’ll likely get more details soon.
Feel free to watch the reveal video below. What do you think? Are you excited for the newest Pokémon adventure? Pokémon Sword and Shield will release later this year.
