San Diego Comic-Con welcomed GotGame once again for this year’s fantastic convention. As is tradition, that means another GotGame cosplay gallery! The rules are simple, we only accept cosplay of video game characters. The only exception to this rule is if the character is specifically the video game incarnation. For example, if we see a cosplay of Batman, it won’t count, but if it’s Batman as depicted from Batman: Arkham Asylum, then it counts. Despite not getting some of the wonderful cosplay based on movies, TV shows and comics, we still got out biggest cosplay gallery to date!
Usually there is a common cosplay based on current trends for the year. Last year had a lot of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild cosplay, and the year before that was Overwatch. While both of those remain popular games to cosplay from, this year seemed to go a different route. There was a noticeable amount of “genderbent” cosplayers this year. It’s been common to see a lot of women cosplay as male characters, and that still shows. Funny enough, this gallery has a good amount of male cosplayers as female characters. It’s actually wonderful to see so many fans express their love for these characters through cosplay, regardless of gender, and we respect that. All cosplayers shown have given their consent for this gallery and we made sure to credit those who provided information. Last but not least, this is a judge-free gallery, so please be respectful to all our cosplayers.
