Rage 2 Officially Announced, to Nobody’s Surprise [UPDATE]
After the Walmart Canada leak about a week ago, there have been a lot of rumors floating around. For anyone that doesn’t know, Walmart Canada listed several unannounced games on their website. Some of these games included obvious ones like Borderlands 3 or WWE 2K19, but one title had heads turning. Rage 2, a sequel to a 2011 first-person shooter made by id Software, was also on that list. While Rage was received positively, many had left it behind as a one-shot.
Well today, Bethesda is here to say Rage is back, and with a vengeance. After a series of teaser images (posted conveniently after the Walmart leak), May 14th was used as a reveal date. And with that, Bethesda has released their announcement trailer.
While the announcement trailer doesn’t show gameplay, it will be shown tomorrow in another trailer. Even then, the trailer does show some returning elements. Vehicles were a big part of the original Rage, and that could be seen in the beginning of the trailer. The iconic “wingstick”, the boomerang-like weapon from the first game, also seems set to return. It looks like the electric crossbow bolts may return as well, as characters could be seen with an electrified effect. We’ll know more about Rage 2 when the gameplay reveal trailer releases (or leaks) tomorrow. [UPDATE: Added gameplay trailer below].
