Who’s excited for Assassin’s Creed: Origins? Okay, easier question – who isn’t excited for Assassin’s Creed: Origins? The latest game promises a return to form for the ten year old franchise, with a more involved battle system, deeper RPG elements, native 4K on consoles and a brand new time period over a thousand years before anything we’ve ever seen! As the name suggests, the story is going to be about the very foundation of the Assassins’ Order, claiming that it originated in Ancient Egypt and that a man named Bayek had a hand in its creation… But did you know that, according to the games’ own lore, that’s actually not true at all? Stephen Charlesworth created a really cool timeline detailing the entire history of the franchise, from the deepest corners of its backstory all the way down to today. According to it, the Assassins have been active for hundreds, if not thousands of years before Origins, which also explains why Bayek had a hidden blade on in the E3 demo – those had already been in use for about 500 years by the time the game takes place! The entire timeline is a great refresher for those who are a little bit rusty on their AC backstory, and a surprisingly good TL;DR for those who skipped a few games (or the entire series), but would still like to go into Origins prepared.
