Thrustmaster has unveiled their new T300RS GT Edition, which is a device that helps take full advantage of its official Gran Turismo license on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. “The T300RS GT Edition combines the very best racing wheel technologies currently available on the market, a result of Thrustmaster’s extensive racing wheel experience that has brought the very best hardware to racing fans since 1993,” they stated on the official press release.
Thrustmaster has brought this new world class racing wheel ahead of the most anticipated PlayStation racing game, Gran Turismo Sport. The T300RS GT Edition is an officially licensed Gran Turismo wheel, and is built around technologies developed by Thrustmaster, including an industrial brushless motor that offers full Force Feedback and 1080 degrees of rotation.
The controller is quite flexible, smooth, easy to use, and, of course, responsive. The Force Feedback system helps offer an impressive level of realism while the flexibility is courtesy of the dual-belt system. The wheel also turns silently, which players should appreciate as they drive full speed around the track. The precision is thanks to the HallEffect AccuRate Technology, or H.E.A.R.T, which utilizes contactless magnetic sensors that deliver long-lasting 16-bit precision (65,536 values). Finally, the T300 RS GT Edition features internal memory and upgradeable firmware so that users can keep up-to-date with the most recent upgrades.
The T300RS GT Edition also features a metal 3-pedal set that includes clutch, brake, and accelerator. This pedal set has been designed and built to offer greater immersion and realism alongside exceptional stability so that even the heaviest foot movements during the most intense racing will not be able to dislodge the pedals. You will be able to adjust the height and spacing position of both the accelerator and clutch, while the brake pedal, in order to simulate racing authenticity, offers progressive resistance. Thrustmaster has created brand new pedal heads specifically for this controller, offering it a unique design that is thus exclusive to the special edition.
The racing wheel is also made out of metal, featuring a rubber trim. It is fully detachable thanks to the Thrustmaster Quick Release system and features the official PlayStation 4 buttons. It is 11″/28 centimeters in diameter and boasts a metal central hub, which helps it deliver maximum realism. It weighs 2.6 pounds/1.2 kilograms and is perfectly suited to the force feedback ratio.
In addition, there are metal paddle shifters attached to the wheel that measure in 5″/13 centimeters in height, as well as a tact switch that has been tested for over 500,000 activations. Gear changes will always be extremely quick and efficient, they promise, which enables racers to shave off a few precious fractions for each lap time.
Players can assign multiple functions to the 13 action buttons and directional buttons and the wheel’s rotation angle can be adjusted from 270 degrees to 1080 degrees so that racers can fully hone their skills with every type of car available. The wheel can be fitted to desks, tables, and even mounted in a cockpit so that it can help deliver an authentic racing experience. It is compatible with other detachable wheels, pedal sets, and gearboxes, including the 599XX EVO 30 Wheel Add-On Alcantara Edition, TM Leather 28 GT Wheel Add-On, Ferrari F1 Add-on, Ferrari GTE Add-on, T500RS GT Wheel and Base-Fixed Paddle Shifters kit, T3PA-PRO, TH8A, and TH8RS.
This racing wheel is available at the suggested retail price of $399.99 and has been designed in close collaboration with Gran Turismo Sport creator, Kazunori Yamauchi.
