WeMade shares information regarding future Riders of Icarus content
BK, lead game designer for the Riders of Icarus team at WeMade, recently shared information regarding upcoming updates for Riders of Icarus.
Lair of Ienos
First up he discussed the Lair of Ienos. Grand Warlock Goraktus of the Fallen Legion sent Ienos on a mission to collect rare familiars in an attempt to enhance and reinforce their army. The Arcanum followed trails of evil energy found in Parna’s Coast and discovered the Lair of Ienos, and now requests for you to vanquish the evil within.
Beginning at level 35, players will be able to complete a daily quest to enter the lair (when it appears near Big Snow Camp in Parna’s Coast) and defeat Ienos for his Familiar Control Stone. Upon doing so, two familiars, randomly selected from a pool of elite and heroic beasts, will appear within, granting players the chance to tame one of the two. Regardless of success or failure, you will have another chance on the following day.
Ienos himself will be scaled so that players of various skill levels can defeat him. “This solo dungeon does not take much time to clear,” BK stated, “so we think the lair will be very helpful to those players asking for wider access to familiars from all across Hakanas, including Parna’s Coast and the Exarahn Badlands.”
Another future update will bring an area known as the Tritael Rift, which was once a flourishing place that had been torn apart by the battle between Goddess Ellora and God of Ruin Zelnaris. There is still constant conflict within the area, despite the battle having long since past. In addition, The Fallen Legion and Tempest Dragons have begun a plan to upset the balance in the Rift, creating an explosion that will destroy Hakanas, and it is up to you and the Pegasus Knights to stop them.
The area is rich with energy, featuring very little solid ground and a sky of blue and pink and the blue sea below. This vast area will test the aerial skills of players, although there will be pockets of energy that can quickly allow you to recover your mount’s energy. In addition, there will be a wide variety of new familiars to capture.
The Breach is a high level dungeon found high in the sky of the Tritael Rift. Within the Breach, Supreme Commander Izhora is gathering souls to create an army. Both Izhora and Umax the Devourer are sure to prove a greater challenge than players have before experienced, and deeper, more engaging strategies will be required to defeat these bosses.
If you win, of course, you will find the Supreme Commander weapon and armor sets.
Within the 10-player dungeon known as the Gusting Isles lies the titan Trauna, who has been sealed away since the end of the War of Light. This weapon, utilized by the God of Ruin, is an incredible threat, but those successful in vanquishing the titan can obtain some rather incredible gear.
BK also spoke about bugs, assuring players, “The development team for Riders of Icarus wants to deliver new and fun content as quickly as we can, and since we’ve done this at a very fast pace since Open Beta began, many bugs have arisen that we have not yet addressed. We are working diligently on fixing these bugs as well as introducing new content.”
“We are also reading the forums and listening to player feedback,” he continued. “Everything you post in the forums helps us a great deal in improving Riders of Icarus. For example, we saw that there were a great deal of players attempting to simultaneously tame familiars. Therefore, we increased the spawn rate with the “Like” event buff which will persist until the Lair of Ienos update, at which time players will be able to use the lair to alleviate the stress of acquiring certain rare familiars.”
Another example of the team listening to player feedback lies within the power of Explosive Shot in PvP. “We also saw feedback on the power of Explosive Shot in PvP,” BK explained, “which is why damage was reduced. We also saw players’ concerns regarding mounted Riders attacking unmounted Riders and adjusted the accuracy of mounted attacks which will, in turn, reduce the number of fly-by kills. These are just a few examples of how we are continuing to make adjustments to the game during this Open Beta testing period.”
BK finished the post by assuring that the new areas will not be the only new things arriving in future content updates, stating that there will also be a host of new systems, features, and fixes as they work towards improving the game.
