10 Second Ninja X demo allows players to help determine price

Curve Digital and Four Circle Interactive have revealed that the upcoming 10 Second Ninja X will be priced based on how players perform in the game’s PC demo, the recently launched, “Prepare to Buy” Edition. In addition, they have shared a new trailer, which highlights the fleet-footed style and replayability potential:

The free demo can be played via Steam, or on the official website, where players can earn in-game stars (players can check how many stars have been collected on the site) based on how quickly they complete stages. When the game launches in full on July 19, 2016, the game will feature a discount based on the number of stars collected, with each one dropping the price by 0.0008 percent up to a maximum of 40 percent. As such, if players can collect 50,000 stars prior to release, the title will release at $5.99 instead of the planned $9.99.

Dan Pearce, Game Director at Four Circle Interactive, stated, “10 Second Ninja X may look like a straightforward action platformer, but it’s so much more than that. Achieving three stars on any level is a challenge – so we wanted to reward those who gain stars in the demo by offering a real, financial reward. With 15 stars available in the demo, we only need 3,334 players to demonstrate total mastery. We have every faith that the challenge will be met.”

“Potentially dropping the price like this is a ridiculous idea,” added Simon Byron from Curve Digital.

What are your thoughts on the challenge?
