FATED: The Silent Oath arrives on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in April
Frima Studio announced that the Norse-themed Virtual Reality experience, FATED: The Silent Oath, will be arriving on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on April 28, 2016, and on the PlayStation VR at launch. The game takes players on one man’s quest to protect his family from the destruction of their world at the hands of the gods.
Vincent Martel, Executive Producer on the game, stated, “Fear is a concept that is relatively easy to achieve in Virtual Reality, but for FATED, we wanted to explore compassion, sadness, happiness and other complex emotions. Nothing is stronger than the connection between a parent and his child. We knew we would strike a sensitive chord with players in FATED.”
This title has been developed with Unreal Engine 4, offering a first-person immersive adventure set in the mythical age of Vikings. Written by Jill Murray, known for her work on Assassin’s Creed, the title was built specifically for Virtual Reality, telling the story of the exile of a man and his family during Ragnarök. As he travels with his family, he comes across a mix of touching and terrifying events, learning more about himself and his loved ones alike.
Featuring high-quality writing, characterization, and voice acting, FATED aims to transport players into a world of myth and legend, making them feel a true emotional connection with the story and characters. Those interested can check out the official developer blog here.
