Square-Enix held a special fan event tonight in Los Angeles, CA, dubbed as Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV. This event was intended to cover all things Final Fantasy XV, making several announcements, 15 to be exact, but perhaps the most important one was the revelation of the release date. Earlier this week, it seemed that the date was leaked, but now it has been confirmed, as Final Fantasy XV will be released on September 30th, 2016 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Alongside this announcement, it was also revealed that there would be a Deluxe Edition as well as an Ultimate Collector’s Edition, the latter only having 30,000 prints available. The Deluxe Edition will consist of a steelbook with special artwork, a physical copy of the movie Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive, and a set of downloadable content consisting of the Royal Rainment outfit, the Masamune sword, and and the Platinum Leviathan coating for the car in the game. The price for this will be $89.99.
The Ultimate Collector’s Edition will be a Square-Enix Store exclusive, going on sale at 9:00PM PST tonight, and will not only include all the content of the Deluxe Edition but will also include a 192-page art book, an exclusive Play Arts Kai figure of Noctis, extra downloadable content, the Final Fantasy XV Brotherhood anime, and a soundtrack as well. This one will set you back a staggering $269.99, and though it is expensive, it will likely sell out rather quickly [UPDATE: Both versions already sold out].
Either way, it’s nice to finally get the release date for the game that has been in development for over ten years. Feel free to watch the new trailer below!
