Third annual Relic vs. Creative Assembly event goes live on February 14

EGA Europe recently announced that the third annual Relic vs. Creative Assembly community event, known as Make War Not Love 3, will begin on February 14, 2016 at  6PM GMT/10AM PST/7PM CET and run until February 20, 2016 at 6PM GMT/10AM PST/7PM CET.

In the previous two years, Company of Heroes 2 claimed victory against Total War, and now Total War sends in their ATTILA community in an attempt to seek revenge. It won’t be that simple, however, as a third challenger has stepped up, namely the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II community, completing the bill for the ultimate real-time strategy triple threat match.

Those who wish to take part in the event only need to do one thing: Play their chosen game as much as possible during this time frame. To help encourage players to join in, all three games will feature a 75% discount during the contest and will even be free to play from February 18 to February 20.

“Points, or in this case percentages,” they explain, “mean prizes and all matches/skirmishes completed in each game will be tallied up and then weighted using a formula that would make even Alan Turing’s head spin. Every 48 hours throughout the contest, the community in the lead will unlock a selection of games from SEGA’s back catalogue to download for free, in addition to some bumper discounts for other SEGA titles.”

The community that wins the contest will unlock a piece of content for their game to grab for free. Company of Heroes will receive Company of Heroes 2: The British Forces if they win. Dawn of War II will receive the Tau Commander for Dawn of War II: Retribution, and Total War: ATTTILA would receive an unannounced, brand new piece of content if they win. When all is said and done, SEGA will be giving away over £60 worth of free content and also host several discounts.

Craig Laycock, Lead Community Manager for Total War, stated, “They say war is hell. It is when you’re bad at it. Now we’re not ones to point fingers, but it looks to us like Relic are playing the numbers game this year, fielding two teams against our one. I can’t remember what they’re called. Company of War and Dawn of Heroes or something…it’s not important. What’s important is that our community take arms and slowly crush their souls into a fine pulp during this proud competition. That’s what’s important.”

Dawn of War Community Manager, Kellie Goggins, replied, “Who are these amateurs? They are all but heretics who don’t know their place. They shouldn’t fool themselves. We have been fighting for thousands of years, war is all we are, killing is all we are good for! If they feel they have even the slightest chance, it is a delusion. We will crush their hopes, their dreams and claim this as an easy victory for the Emperor.”

Finally, Kyle Fehr, Community Manager for Company of Heroes, commented, stating, “Total War? More like Total Disaster. Last I checked they were 0 – 2 down. Seriously though, all this pwning of Total War and I am still ‘Hun-gry’ for more. Can’t wait to crush their cavalry on their puny donkeys or whatever they ride with our mobile artillery. As for these Dawn of War newbs joining the party, they might as well go back to bed and watch some real soldiers show them how to fight. It’s going to take more than some green pirates to slow down our war machine.”

Which game do you think will claim victory?
