Japanese fans of “fresh” tunes had the chance to go to a live concert for the Squid Sisters, the fictional pop artist duo from Splatoon. Similar to how vocaloid concerts are done, hologram versions of Callie and Marie were displayed to move and sing with live music. Even though the language used in the songs is fictional, the fans still seemed to have a great time enjoying the catchy music.
The concert itself had a very clever presentation, as it opened to a countdown to a familiar “Squid News” broadcast from the sisters themselves, giving exposition to the event it would seem. Within moments, the sisters were on the “stage” and performing just like they do in the video game. Every now and then, the sisters would take a break between songs and have a discussion, which was translated to Japanese on the screen behind them, making it feel similar to the game.

Should Nintendo continue making these concerts and branch out to other countries? Should they incorporate other franchises into this idea? How many people would go out to see a K.K. Slider concert on a Saturday night?
