Today The Pokémon Company International was proud to unveil a brand new television commercial that is set to air during the third quarter of Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016. This ad, shot in Rio de Janeiro, celebrates the franchise’s 20th anniversary as it explores ambition, drive, and training, urging all players to “Train on”. There are plenty of hidden Pokémon references hidden throughout the ad, and you can view the full version of the ad (there will only be a 30 second version aired during Super Bowl 50) can be seen below:
J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, stated, “For 20 years, the Pokémon world has inspired fans to train hard and have fun. This ad is reflective of that passion, and I can’t think of a bigger stage to share this story than the Super Bowl.”
In addition, this ad, made by the Los Angeles-based creative agency known as Omelet, will be featured in the upcoming CBS special Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials when it airs on February 2 at 8PM Eastern. This program will revisit fan-favorite commercials of the past and give a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Pokémon Super Bowl advertisement.
