Brightlocker to enter Closed Beta in December
A group of video game industry veterans were thrilled to reveal their new crowdpublishing site, Brightlocker, is setting up to to enter Closed Beta next month. This platform sets to create a game out of creating games. Setting up to launch in early 2016, the platform goes beyond simply letting backers fund projects by allowing the community to actively participate in the funding, creation, selection, and even development of games.
Ruben Cortez, Brightlocker’s CEO, stated, “In the traditional crowdfunding model for videogames, consumers play the role of a pay-and-pray bystander, often backing games that never get made. BrightLocker will ensure that every game that gets funded actually gets made and published. We use the power of the crowd to put the ‘fun’ in funding, engaging with users throughout the entire development process, giving gamers the chance to imagine, choose, create, play and even earn money.”
As they “Gamify” the process, they reward gamers at every step of the process, from concept through launch. Active members of the community get to utilize the platform and process to help make their favorite ideas a reality while earning rewards, achievements, and even currency that can be utilized on the platform and in future games.
The platform is also attractive to developers, they believe, as it allows them to work on games that have been “pre-approved” by gamers, thus reducing the acquisition cost and making development even more efficient, as well as increasing a game’s chaces of being a hit.
If you want to sign up for the Closed Beta that begins in December, you can do so on the official site.
