As Sandbox Interactive’s cross-platform sandbox MMORPG, Albion Online, approaches Closed Beta, the developer has shared a new video showing off one of the latest features of the game. This feature is hirable resource gatherers known as “Laborers”. Check out the video below:
In addition to this video, they have published a blog post explaining the system in more depth. The short of it is that, because everything that you will build or craft requires resource of some sort, the gathering process will play quite a crucial role in Albion’s player-driven economy. These newly introduced non-player characters both help with resource collection and bring purpose to the housing concept.
There are different types of Laborers, such as gatherers, crafters, and even a mercenary. You will be able to choose from these depending on your playstyle, then, after settling them in a house or guild hall, you will acquire a profession-related journal from them. You fill this journal in with notes for your Laborers to follow as they perform tasks, and the more tasks the finish, the more proficient they become, which, of course, means that they will become more demanding. As a result, in order to keep them fully content, you’ll need to provide appropriate furniture and house decorations.
What are your thoughts on this new feature and Albion Online in general, from everything we currently know?
