Back in 1988, John Romero created a title known as Dangerous Dave in The Deserted Pirate’s Hideout, which was a Super Mario-inspired platformer set in the backwoods of Louisiana on an Apple II magazine cover disk. This title was later ported to DOS.

Last week, the game made its debut on the iPhone and iPad with a version including both the original 8-bit game and a remastered HD version featuring new artwork and original music composed by Dren McDonald. The Dangerous Dave soundtrack features 11 original compositions that attempt to bring new depth to the redneck adventure, which originally had no music. The album is currently available via BandCamp, and iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play releases will be following on November 12, 2015.

They have released a sample track, known as The Warp Tree, here.
