New Total War: WARHAMMER trailer shows the Dwarfs in battle

dwarfsThe Ambush at the Thundering Falls, one of the many Quest Battles from Total War: WARHAMMER, has received a new gameplay demo video recently, which can be viewed below:

The above Let’s Play shows off one of the early Quest Battles from the Dwarf campaign in the game. This battle occurs as a Dwarfen force led by High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer is ambushed by a Greenskin horde. He must fight off this horde, and the video showcases new features and never-before-seen units battling underground for the first time in a Total War game. It shows off a taste of things to come when Total War: WARHAMMER is released, as well as a glimpse into the dark and exciting fantasy world of the game.

The Dwarfs will be one of the main playable races in Total War: WARHAMMER, featuring a play-style that is unique to them as the other races do. Dwarfs are sturdy warriors and ingenious engineers, which is reflected by the detail and scale of the cavernous underground cities, known as Dwarfholds, that they inhabit. This race features a defensive play-style, as you can see in the above video, where they utilize stout melee troops and powerful artillery to fend off the Greenskin ambush from all angles.

In addition, certain races in the upcoming game will be able to utilize the ancient Dwarfen Underway to bypass various obstacles on the campaign map. These same races will also be able to recruit various units that will gain combat bonuses when they fight in subterranean battles.

Those who missed out on the in-engine cinematic revealing the Dwarfs can check out the video below to learn a bit about their backstory:

The demo will be available for the public to try out for the first time at EGX 2015, as well as other global gaming events throughout October. EGX will take place in Birmingham from September 24 to September 27, 2015.
