Seems like Capcom really listened to the fans for this one, as Street Fighter V’s newest fighter is one that was heavily requested for quite some time. Announced at Tokyo Game Show, Karin was revealed as the new addition to the roster for the highly anticipated sequel. Like Rainbow Mika, her only previous appearance in a Street Fighter game was Street Fighter Alpha 3, but unlike R. Mika, Karin was originally introduced in a Street Fighter manga in 1996, Sakura Ganbaru!
Bringing her Kanzuki household moves, her taunting laugh, and an upper-class attitude, Karin seems to look right at home with the rest of the cast in Street Fighter V. At launch, the game will have 16 fighters, and with Karin’s announcement, that leaves four more characters. Rashid was the second of four new characters announced, so that leaves two newcomers and two returning characters.
Remember, after the initial batch of 16 fighters, all characters added to the game will be unlockable for free. Street Fighter V is still expecting more beta tests before the launch next Spring, so fans may be able to try out these new characters soon. Street Fighter V releases exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and PC with cross-platform compatibility early next year.
