Updated with a pic of the Pokemon Go Plus Device.
The Pokemon Company has announce during a NicoNico livestream a new Pokemon game for smartphones known as Pokemon Go. The game is being developed by Niatic, a former Google start-up company that its known for its augmented reality game Ingress.
While the trailer has no gameplay footage it does make it know that the game will combine augmented reality with Pokemon’s beloved Gotta Catch’em all gameplay. Pokemon Go will use real world location information to allow players to experience catching, trading, and battling Pokemon in real life.
There will also a device made for the game, call the Pokemon Go Plus, which act as a notification device for near by Pokemons with LED lights and vibrations. And finally there’s also seems to be a social integration as well; as seen at the end of the trailer we see hundreds of people gathering to take down Mewtwo together and quickly.
Pokemon Go should be released for iOS and Android devices sometime in 2016. No word on pricing but I do hope if it goes free to play that its has a better pricing scheme then the smartphone version of Pokemon Shuffle.
