Doctor Who: Legacy prepares for version 3.0
The teams behind the award-winning Doctor Who: Legacy game have announced recently that “Whovians” will have two massive treats when version 3.0 of the title launches in mid August. The second treat for fans is what follows the launch, namely the planned weekly live content updates that will occur alongside Season 9 of the television series.
Now let’s speak of some 3.0 details. First up, gamers should know that it brings us the “Sonic Adventures” story arc, which is led by the First Doctor and includes the beloved characters Donna Noble, Mickey Smith, River Song, and introduces the Third Doctor’s companion, Jo Grant. The new arc will have you collecting many of the sonic devices and gadgets from over the years of Doctor Who.
In addition, 3.0 will feature “Doctor Who: Legacy Kids“, which is a special dedicated area for the youngest fans of the series. This special area is inspired by none other than the popular “Anna’s Playground” levels that were created for the child of one of the fans of the series.
The team behind the game is working closely with the BBC Doctor Who brand team and BBC Worldwide, as they did with Season 8 in preparation for the new series. They have plans to release allies, costumes, and even levels based around the upcoming television season the very same weekend each new episode airs.
All told, Doctor Who: Legacy, which boasts nearly 2 million players, now features over 80 hours of playable content, including all 13 Doctors and more than 140 playable allies and companions. Standing in your way are enemies from both modern and classic Doctor Who, as well as extended universe content from Big Finish, Titan Comics, and George Mann’s Engines of War novel. Finally, it features the special “Bigger on the Inside” 8-bit style retro adventure.
