Street Fighter’s Ryu comes to Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS, Roy tags along
Seems that an early update became available for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in Japan, and hackers have data-mined it to uncover the juicy secrets inside. Most notable would be the footage of two unannounced characters, Ryu from Capcom’s iconic Street Fighter franchise, and the return of Roy from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. Twitter user Random Talking Bush has posted a plethora of leaked content for the game, including ending videos from the game’s Classic Mode that was too legitimate to be faked. Data for both characters was found previously when Mewtwo was added to the 3DS version of the game, so it seemed like the two were inevitable.
Nintendo is expecting to hold a Super Smash Bros. presentation tomorrow morning at 7:40 AM PST, suggesting “New Content Approaching”. It seems very likely that these two characters will be officially revealed in that presentation, coinciding with the release of Lucas from Mother 3 and the Splatoon costumes. Also found in the data-mined information were stages like Kirby’s Dreamland 64, trophies like Street Fighter’s Ken and Splatoon’s Inkling Girl, and even a stage for Ryu based on his Street Fighter II stage. Pricing is unknown for the new content right now, or if any other characters are currently planned, but rest assured we’ll more than likely find out tomorrow morning. Videos of the characters can be seen below.
