Star Wars: Battlefront – Everything you Need to Know
The entire madness started in 2013 at E3, where EA showcased the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront. Similar to how the movie’s own episode VII is being revealed, the trailer was short but somehow magnificent. Little we knew at that point, but now a lot of wave of details have popped out, and we’re ready to outline the most important ones of them in a single shot.
Battlefront will be multiplayer-driven, with its core being cooperation, lightsabers, and a heartbreaking lack of a fully fledged campaign. The online battles will be fought on handful of maps, some inspired by the Star Wars movie trilogy, including Hoth, Tattooine, Sullust and Jakku. There’s a plethora of playable characters from which players can choose from, including the popular Boba Fett and Darth Vader, and even more vehicles: Speeder Bikes, AT-ATs, X-wings, TIE fighters, and AT-STs.
The missing single-player campaign is replaced by a series of special missions which can be played in both co-op and offline split-screen. At this point, we’re not sure if Star Wars: Battlefront features a deep and rich story, but we surely hope DICE won’t completely omit it.
It’s very unlikely for the game to actually add to the overall known story of the Star Wars universe, but there’s enough room for a strong plot, or at least an explanation behind everything that’s happening (even if the player has a pretty solid knowledge of the movies). Naturally, everything should fall into its place soon enough, with the developer sharing more information with us.
When it comes to gameplay, not every droid will be the same and even Darth Vader will dare to be fashionable. Characters can be customizable according to everyone’s wishes, and knowing EA, might be a solid place to introduce micro-transactions. Nevertheless, who can’t say pass to a Star Wars game?! On top of the previously mentioned feature, Battlefront will allow players to switch between first-person and third-person perspective, making things even more interesting.
Online matches will support up to 40 players, a thing rarely seen in nowadays’ games. While PCs will surely handle the heat, there’s a big question mark on how consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) will perform in this huge matches.
There’s not much to know about Star Wars: Battlefront at this point, but even with the tiny amount of details we posses about it we’re excited as hell for this game. More information will be disclosed upon’s the game’s release date, and we’ll make sure that everyone knows about it so we’ll keep this updated on the go.
For those living under a rock, it’s also worth mentioning that Star Wars: Battlefront launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15, 2015.
