Former Xbox Boss Don Mattrick Steps Down as Zynga CEO

by on April 8, 2015

Zynga co-founder leaves company to pursue personal projects.

After leaving Microsoft two years ago, former Xbox boss Don Mattrick is now leaving Zynga as well, and steps down from his position as CEO of the company. Mark Pincus, Zynga’s founder, will now step again into the role of the company’s CEO.

“I believe the timing is now right for me to leave as CEO and let Mark lead the company into its next chapter given his passion for the founding vision and his ability to couple our mobile progress with Zynga’s unique strengths,” Mattrick said in a statement to Gamasutra.

A clear reason behind his departure is unknown, and very unlikely for us to ever find out. The fact that Mark came back and took the reins, means that things weren’t going as he wanted in the company.

We wish Don Mattrick good luck in his future endeavours.
