This weekend, during the PlayStation Experience event, Street Fighter V was announced as a PlayStation 4 exclusive deal between Sony and Capcom. But Xbox‘s boss Phil Spencer promises that he will “make amends” to Xbox One owners.
Responding on Twitter, Spencer said “Business deals happen. We won’t do all of them. When we have a 1st party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours.” [he reffered to Killer Instinct]. After that he answered to another Twitter user with “I’d love it if Xbox fans could play all the games, but business just makes some deals happen. It’s all part of competition.”
Finally, after a Xbox fan said to him “just give me a new banjo kazooie or conker and we can forget this whole SF thing happened Phil”, Spencer replied with “Love the idea of game franchise bartering, I’ll work on making amends for Street Fighter.”
We don’t know what those amends will be, but the competition between Sony and Microsoft is good for the industry, a fact that is appreciated by Spencer too: “I appreciate the competition, they [Sony] do good work. I just focus on us and like you say I think that makes us better” and “PSX was a nice event, good way for Sony to celebrate 20 years. I watched, it was well done. I feel good about 2015 for Xbox.”
